 The Board of Directors of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors (NJCM)
is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard J. Knight as
their Executive Director. Mr. Knight succeeds Donald Fauerbach
who served as Executive Director of the Conference since 1992.
Mr. Fauerbach has been named General Manager of Motor
Sports Park, located in Millville, N.J. Mr. Fauerbach will
serve as a consultant to the Conference through the Annual
Conference, scheduled to take place in Atlantic City, N.J. on
April 10 – 11, 2008.
Mr. Knight was selected to serve as Executive Director of the
NJCM following an extensive search for a replacement for the
position conducted by the Executive Director and Board members
of the organization. Mayor Malcom Fraser of Cape May Point
Borough, President of the Conference, recommended the
appointment of Mr. Knight to the Conference Board of Directors
at their Board meeting held on February 28, 2008 in Trenton.
Mr. Knight was appointed from a group of seven highly qualified
candidates who had been chosen for final interviews with the
Executive Board during the process.
Mr. Knight previously served as President of the NJCM from 1991
to 1992 and is a member of the Mayor Emeritus Advisory Council.
He most recently served as the Borough Manager and Borough Clerk
for the Borough of Medford Lakes, Burlington County from 2003
until 2007. Mr. Knight served as the Mayor of Delran Township,
Burlington County from 1984 until 1992. A retired Sales
Executive with AT&T / Lucent Technologies, Inc., Mr. Knight
brings extensive business experience to the position in addition
to his experience in Municipal Government.
In
remarks to the Board of Directors, Mr. Knight expressed his
appreciation to the Executive Board for their confidence and
committed to working diligently to enhance the organization and
increase membership in the Organization with both Mayors
currently serving in office as well as experienced Mayors no
longer in office.
Mr. Knight emphasized the importance of the Conference of Mayors
maintaining close working relationships with the New Jersey
League of Municipalities and Corporate Partners to enhance the
quality of life of our residents.
For more than forty five years, the NJ Conference of Mayors (NJCM),
has been the voice of the Mayors of New Jersey to the Governor’s
Office and to the State and Federal Legislatures regarding
issues that confront our State and its residents. The
organization provides our Mayors a unified voice to address
these issues and offers solutions to improve the quality of life
for all New Jersey.
Mr. Knight resides in Medford Lakes with his wife of 39 years,
Peg.
